Do bearded dragons absorb water through their skin?

i have heard that its true and that it is also a myth, i give my bearded dragon water that drips into a dish and i also mist him with water from time to time, i do notice the water rolling down his head and he sticks his tongue out to drink it. but is it true that they also absorb the water into their skin rather than drinking it? i also give him fresh greens every day as well as feeding him crickets. thanks for your answers!!!

Do bearded dragons absorb water through their skin?
Nope, dragons don't get water through their skin.

It's important to mist them occasionally because it keeps their skin comfortable. Like lotion for people, only they don't need as much. They're desert dwellers, they like it on the dry side.

Some dragons won't drink from a dish, so the mist/humidity in the tank, as well as food, is all the water they get.
Reply:Not through the skin, but through their vents. The vent is the opening where they urinate and defecate. Many reptiles are "vent drinkers" and can absorb quite a bit of water this way. It is important to mist your dragon daily (they will drink the water that runs off their faces), and a good weekly soak for an adult (more often for babies) in warm water for 20 minutes will help with shedding and encourage them to defecate. It also helps with dehydration. In the wild they have many more opportunities to drink, and many will drink or soak in watering holes. They are not true desert creatures--many live in forest scrub land. They do get moisture from their food, so make sure their salads are misted and their insects have a source of moisture from a water bowl (for crix) or fresh fruits and vegies. Some will drink from a bowl, and I always leave a little bowl in one corner of the tank just in case.
Reply:No, not through the skin but through their nostrils.
