Why exactly was Dragon Skin Armor banned from the military?

I can not find a staright answer anywhere.

Why exactly was Dragon Skin Armor banned from the military?
The military first banned dragon skin armor, bacause they had not tested it yet.

Then after they tested it, it failed the militaries test.

The test done by NBC, was a rigged test.

They didn't even use official intercepter body armor, they used a knock off brand and a knock off insert plate's.

They had a guy who said he helped develop the intercepter body armor, but it eneded up, all his company did, was make the outside cloth shell of the body armor, he had nothing to do with the actual, body armor itself.

Pinnacle, the comany that makes dragon Skin body armor, is under investigation by the USAF and seveal law enforcement departments for selling mislabeled body armor.

Pinnacle, was selling body armor labeled as NIJ level III compliant , when in fact, the body armor wasn't certified by NIJ as level lll compliant.

The USAF has even went as far as beginning the process to ban Pinnacle from any military contract EVER.

Something that has never been done before.
Reply:they say it dosnt work good enough in the extreme heat. plus it would cost too much to field one to every soldier.
Reply:I think it was because if it was under extreme temps it failed. I believe there was a news report on it so you might google it. They showed a picture of it after it had been hot then cold and then shot it and it went right through.
Reply:It's pretty simple, it failed some of the tests run on it. I believe it had complete failure in some cold weather tests.
Reply:I live Fresno where Pinnacle is. Their statements in an hour long special on the news here was "The pentagon wants the intellectual property rights , and will decide who then produces the armor."

Since Pinnacle won't sell them the rights, the pentagon refuses to use it.

Apparently it goes like this. The Govt takes the idea (doesn't pay) and goes with the lowest bid to produce the product.

I think it's crap.

edit: I found the story from our local ABC for ya

It's been well over 100 degree's here so sunbaked is not an excuse.
Reply:Dragonskin armor proved to be not very effective armor against the 7.62mmx52mm (.308 calibur round). This is a very common cartridge used in the dragunov rifles and several common assault rifles of western manufacture. It did stop the bullets but not against repeated hits in a short amount of time.
Reply:It doesn't work. The company who makes is upset that the military didn't buy a substandard piece of equipment, and are trying to use public pressure to force the military to purchase it. Dragon Skin was tested by the USMC Warfighting Lab about 2 years before the Army looked at it. It failed repeatedly in a field environment. It cannot stand up to heat, sand, fresh water immersion, salt water immersion, friction, cold weather, using it as a pillow, wearing it constantly for 3 months, sleeping in it, sweat, blood, urine, mud, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, being run over by a HMMWV, folding it up and storing it in a sea bag, mold, and.....the most important thing.......7.62 mm rounds.

Dragon skin sucks.
