Does anybody know what the Dragon Skin Body Armor is made of?

Kevlar threads and ceramic plates just like all other body armor. Some badass stuff if you ask me...

Does anybody know what the Dragon Skin Body Armor is made of?
No, but itis pretty sweet. Futureweapons on the Discovery channel did a piece on it.

The discs are composed of a silicon carbide ceramic[3] matrices and laminates, much like the larger ceramic plates from other types of bulletproof vests.
Reply:Kevlar

Its called Dragon skin because it is designed similar to the old fashioned scale-mail armor (eg: think of medieval knights) with overlapping plates of Kevlar.

Dragon skin allows more mobility for the wearer in addition to the protection that it affords.
Reply:The Dragon Skin Body Armor have silver dollar sized circular discs that overlap like fish scales or scale armor. This makes the vests flexible and

allow for multiple hits. The discs are composed of a silicon carbide ceramic matrices and laminates much like the larger ceramic plates from other types of bulletproof vests!!
Reply:I have no clue. Most likely a Kevlar/ceramic compound. Unfortunatly due either to its design or the material it did not stop the very common 30-06(7.62x54mm) round consistantly enough for the military to have confidence in using it.
Reply:Too much controversy surrounding that armor. In the military test, it failed. Some of the disk came undone due to the temp change. almost 1 1/2 times heavier than the current armor.
